Today
\na select group of United Nations officials learn about war and peace
\nfrom the perspective of life on an extraterrestrial mothership with
\nmuch battle experience. It won\u2019t however be real life extraterrestrial
\nveterans imparting their knowledge of war and peace in space, but the
\ncreators and cast members from the popular TV series, Battlestar Galactica<\/em><\/a>. The UN Department of Public Information (DPI) and the Sci Fi channel are co-hosting the event <\/a>which
\nwill be moderated by Whoopi Goldberg. The event will feature explore
\n\u201cthemes of importance to both the United Nations and Battlestar
\nGalactica." These include: human rights; children and armed conflict;
\nterrorism; and \u201creconciliation and dialogue among civilizations and
\nfaiths.\u201d It is hoped that discussing themes in relation to the Sci Fi
\nseries which depicts extraterrestrial civilizations experiencing war
\nand peace will give fresh perspectives on contemporary global problems. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
