The U.S. Senate on Thursday night confirmed Leon Panetta as the new
\nDirector of the Central Intelligence Agency on a voice vote. A day
\nearlier, on Wednesday, the Senate Intelligence Committee approved him
\nwithout dissent. The new Committee Chair, Senator Dianne Feinstein, who
\ninitially expressed reservations<\/a> about Panetta as the chief of the largest U.S. spy agency, said:<\/a>
\n"He has the integrity, the drive and the judgment to ensure that the
\nCIA fulfills its mission of producing information critical to our
\nnational security without sacrificing our national values." <\/p>\n
