\nLorant, who is now quoted on many  french and Anglo-American Internet
\nforums, clarified some points for me before we organized the interview
\nscheduled for radio.
He cannot of course comment on any of the
\ninformation transmitted by Michael Salla, which relate to the day of 12
\nFebruary in which he did not attend.
He was in New York to observe
\nthe functioning of the United Nations, and it is a coincidence that the
\ntopic of UFO’s has been discussed during these two days.
He said today:
—
\nIt was on 13 and 14 February for preliminary discussions, to prepare
\nfor a forthcoming meeting of the Economic and Social Council.
— No
\ndocuments were circulated, but extracts from the reports of the
\nNational Guard were projected on screens, and commented on by the three
\nsenators who had ordered the reports.
— Participants were not subject to any particular security search, it was only imperative to extinguish mobile phones.
— At the end of the meeting, participants had to fill in an appreciation form.<\/p>\n

"The
\nmeetings were chaired by Srgjan Kerim, a former Foreign Minister of the
\nFormer Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" (elected president of the 62nd
\nsession of the United Nations General Assembly on May 24, 2007). "Some
\nmeeting rooms were locked in a chain across the door and guarded by a
\nmessenger.  The meeting room in which I found myself was not so
\nguarded. "
I can confirm the presence of Sir John SAWERS, for the
\nUnited Kingdom, and Archbishop Celestino MIGLIORE, permanent
\nrepresentative of the Vatican.<\/p>\n

         
The permanent
\nrepresentative of the Vatican was present in New York at this time, as
\nevidenced by the Catholic Press Agency: "The Archbishop Celestino
\nMigliore, the Vatican’s permanent observer to the United Nations was
\npresent on Wednesday (thus 13 February) during the 62nd Session of the
\nGeneral Assembly of the United Nations, entitled "Climate Change: The
\nUN and the world in the search for solutions."  It was possible to join
\nthe meeting which was held in the hall of the Security Council, since
\nGilles Lorant told me that individuals have participated in various
\nmeetings on the same day.<\/p>\n

During this brief interview, Gilles
\nLorant also stated: "I have been an attach\u00e9 Research" at the CNRS, only
\nbecause I happened in the past to carry out two specific contracts.
\nWith regard to the IHEDN, I have actually been "auditor", but I have
\nbeen reached by the age limit. "<\/p>\n

\nyou encourage Member Nations of the UNITED NATIONS to take certain
\nelementary actions in regard to their official studies of and
\nactivities related to the phenomenon known as Unidentified Flying
\nObjects (UFOs).<\/p>\n

        First, it is a well-established fact
\nthat UFOs (with reference to craft-like objects that have interacted
\nclosely with human beings) are a world-wide phenomenon. Practically
\nevery Nation has conducted official investigations into UFOs, but the
\nfindings typically are shrouded in secrecy. A few Nations (France,
\nAustralia, Spain, Belgium, Brazil) have either declassified and
\nreleased their UFO files or cooperated with civilians and openly

        We request that you take action to encourage Member Nations to<\/p>\n

        (1) declassify and release all UFO files or records in their possession;<\/p>\n

        (2) cooperate with and support serious scientific efforts to study this phenomenon;<\/p>\n

      (3) promulgate regulations or laws requiring military personnel,
\nprofessional pilots, police officers, and maritime personnel to
\ngenerate reports on any UFOs sighted in the course of their
\nprofessional duties and to make those reports freely available to the
\npublic after any legitimately classified portions are deleted. We
\nrecognize the need for protecting legitimate secrets in the short term,
\nbut in the longer term it is important that vital information not be
\nwithheld from the public.<\/p>\n

        Among the signers of this
\npetition, those who have personally experienced a UFO close encounter
\nand whose lives have been seriously affected by the experience are
