\nMay 19, 2009, record low temperatures were recorded in 28 states, more
\nthan half the states in the United States of America.  Many of these
\nrecord low temperatures are the lowest in 100 years, and some the
\nlowest in 115 years.  Iceagenow.com<\/a>,
\na web portal tracking global temperatures reports, \u201cIf there had been
\nrecord warmth in 28 states, your would have seen
\n\u2018we're-causing-global-warming\u2019 headlines plastered across the front
\npage of almostevery newspaper in the country, and TV hosts would have
\ngleefully announced the dire news. . . . But had you even heard about
\nthis?\u201d<\/p>\n

In an April 2, 2009 article, retired U.S. Navy physicist and engineer James A. Marusek<\/a>
\nwrites: \u201cThe sun has gone very quiet as it transitions to Solar Cycle
\n24\u2026. We are now at a crossroad. Two paths lie before us. Both are
\nmarked with a signpost that reads \u201cDanger\u201d! Down one path lies
\nmonstrous solar storms. Down the other path lies several decades of
\ncrushing cold temperatures and global famine.\u201d \u201cA quiet sun will cause
\ntemperatures globally to take a nose-dive. We will experience
\ntemperatures that we have not seen in over 200 years, during the time
\nof the early pioneers.
