BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) –

A video clip is causing a lot of people to do a double-take, after a
mysterious object zipped across the Washington Monument during Tuesday's
inauguration.

What was flying in front of the Washington Monument on the day of President
Obama's inauguration?
News 4's own Graphic Artist Jerry Vinciguerra said, " I
didn't know what it was."

Some people watching it did a double take.

Kurt Murphy, News 4 Art Director said, "It flew by and I thought, 'wow what
is that?'"

The video footage is posted on CNN's website along with other inaugural
coverage.

It's already made its way to YouTube and UFO related websites.

Bloggers are buzzing about whether it was a jet, a UFO or a bird.

What is it?

Murphy said, "It's flapping right there. That's a fast bird."

After analyzing it, the graphic artists agree the object streaking across the
National Mall is a bird.

Murphy said, "When we blew it up, you can see there's like wings flapping.
And you can see it's a bird."

Vinciguerra said, "I think once you take a closer look or look at it a few
more times; to me it looks definitely like it's a bird. No doubt."

The Internet is a magnet for UFO believers and debunkers.

You can see amateur photographers posting pictures and video.

The Washington Monument clip is just the latest discussion.

If seeing is believing, then don't believe everything you see because
sometimes these things can turn out to be a complete hoax like what we're doing
right now, or in the case of the CNN footage, an optical illusion.

Murphy said, "If it was behind the monument it would've been huge, 'oh my God
this thing is massive.' But in front of it you can see it gives you more depth
perception, 'oh it's much smaller.' It's too small to be a
UFO."
